Man City remain on course to successfully defend all three prizes that they won in a historic treble-winning campaign last term in 2023-24. They will be the overwhelming favorites this weekend to claim victory against Huddersfield, and their claims are only strengthened based on the fact that they have never lost in the competition against the Terriers.
The clubs previously met in the 2016-17 season, with City landing a 5-1 success in the replay. Huddersfield have also suffered defeats in each of their last two matches against City across all competitions. However, they haven’t lost three on the bounce against City since November 1987.

City’s record in the competition is extremely dominant, as they have won each of their last eleven in the FA Cup at the Etihad. Over that period, they have scored an excellent 47 goals, and have conceded just four times. Their most recent home loss in the competition was suffered against Middlesbrough in January 2015.
It may also be worth considering that Huddersfield have progressed from just two of their last 17 ties in the competition against top-flight opposition. This is also the first time that they are coming up against the holders since losing 3-1 away from home against Chelsea in 2007-08.
