Match Preview
Southampton are enjoying an excellent Championship campaign in the second tier, as they are well on track to mark an immediate return to the Premier League in 2023-24. However, their focus switches to the FA Cup this week, as they look to land a home win to secure their spot in the fifth round of the competition.
The Saints have an excellent record against the Hornets after suffering just two defeats in the last 18 meetings. Over that period, they have recorded eight wins, with the same number of matches ending in draws. Interestingly, the Saints have only failed to score on one occasion in their last 28 home matches in the FA Cup.

Watford have a poor record against the Saints in the FA Cup, with only Chelsea, Tottenham, and Brighton having eliminated the Hornets more regularly. The visiting side have suffered four defeats in five matches against the Saints in the competition, with the most recent clash between the sides coming in 2017-18.
Watford’s away record in the FA Cup is also hard to ignore, as they have suffered defeats in their last four on the road. Meanwhile, the Hornets have been eliminated in seven of their ten replays in the FA Cup, with six of their defeats over that period coming in matches away from Vicarage Road.
Southampton vs Watford Prediction
Southampton’s excellent form, coupled with their dominant FA Cup record against Watford makes them very challenging to oppose this week. Therefore, we will be siding with the Saints to land a comfortable home win.
