Match Preview

For the second straight season, Brighton and Stoke will collide in the FA Cup. These two sides met in the fifth round of the competition last term, with Brighton landing a 1-0 success at the Bet365 Stadium. However, that victory for the Seagulls is their only win in 18 away matches against Stoke across all competitions.

Stoke have landed nine wins in their last 18 home matches against the Seagulls, with eight of the fixtures ending in draws. However, the Potters have underperformed against Premier League opposition since beating Bolton 5-0 in 2010-11. Since that win, they have lost each of their last eight against top-flight opposition.

Brighton have excelled in the third round of the FA Cup in recent history, having lost just once in their last seven fixtures in this stage of the competition. Their most recent defeat was suffered against Sheffield Wednesday in 2019-20. Meanwhile, they could be excellent value to achieve at least a run to the semi-finals, just as they did last term.

Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma could be a player worth considering in the prop markets this weekend. The Brighton star has been involved in four goals in five FA Cup appearances for the Seagulls, netting twice and registering two assists last term.

Stoke vs Brighton Prediction

The writing could be on the wall for Stoke based on their poor record against Premier League opposition. Therefore, we fully expect Brighton to land victory and achieve a spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
