Match Preview
West Brom have made a strong start to the Championship season this term, as they aim to secure a playoff finish and make a bid for a return to the Premier League. However, the attention switches to the FA Cup this weekend, as they come up against non-league opposition in the form of Aldershot.
This will be a first competitive meeting between the sides, but it could be challenging to overlook West Brom’s excellent home record against non-league opposition in the competition. The Baggies have won each of their last five home matches against non-league sides, scoring 26 unanswered goals.

Aldershot are unlikely to come into this tie with much fear after previously eliminated Football League opposition in each of the previous two rounds of the competition. However, the non-league side come up short in their latest match against a Championship side, falling to a 2-1 defeat against Middlesbrough in January 2013.
West Brom’s record in the third round of the FA Cup could make for key reading this weekend. The Baggies have progressed to the fourth round in six of the last nine seasons. However, two of their three defeats at this stage of the competition have come in the previous three seasons.
West Brom vs Aldershot Prediction
Aldershot should give a good account of themselves at the Hawthorns on Sunday. However, it is testing to overlook the Baggies, given their excellent record against non-league opposition in the FA Cup.
