Game Preview
The fact that the LAFC won the US Open Cup tells enough about its strength. However, they lost Mateusz Bogusz, who went to Cruz Azul this summer and had quite an active transfer window. Yet, Cengiz Under landed in California and he’s going to be a beast in this competition. This team is still one of the top contenders for winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup and the MLS Cup.
Following three straight wins in the preseason, LAFC lost to the Colorado Rapids in the CCL, 2-1 on the road. They were quite active, but the ball wouldn’t go into the net. They had luck, because the only goal they scored came three minutes before the end, with Aaron Long keeping them alive.
Minnesota didn’t have the preseason finale as expected, with them losing back-to-back games. The first was against LA Galaxy, 2-1, and the second vs. New York City FC, 0-1.
They didn’t have a too busy transfer window, and apart from Jung Ho-yeon, there weren’t some notable additions. The Korean is the star on the rise and is expected to upgrade the midfield heavily. Also, keep an eye on Tani Oluwaseyi this year. He might be the next best thing.
LAFC vs. Minnesota United Head-to-Head
Last year’s MLS fixtures between these teams ended with the same result: 2-0. In both events, the hosts won.
LAFC vs. Minnesota United Predictions
The black and gold are, according to the MLS odds, one of the favorites to win the MLS Cup. As such, we will bet on their win here, not just because of that, but because they showed more in the preseason than United.
