Game Preview
One of the reasons why New England is seen as the betting favorite is that the game on August 3 is played on its turf. Another reason is that the Revolution is coming off a fantastic performance against Atletico San Luiz some eight days ago. The American team won 5-1, which was the second-biggest win in the group stage of the 2023 Leagues Cup.
However, there are some things going on against New England ahead of the clash with Atlas F.C. First of all, the Revolution’s goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic started a revolution of his own earlier this week. He missed training as a way of showing his anger at the club’s decision to reject a transfer offer from Nottingham Forest.
Then, an even biggest trouble hit The Revs – their coach Bruce Arena was placed on administrative leave by the MLS, with no set date of return. What this means is that the 71-year-old won’t be in the dugout on Thursday evening against Atlas.

But even if everything was fine and dandy at New England, these guys would still have a difficult job against Atlas. The thing is that the Mexican team is playing fantastic soccer lately. The boys from Guadalajara are 2-0-0 in the Leagues Cup, with zero goals conceded thus far.
New England Revolution vs. Atlas Prediction
The minds of New England Revolution players and staff probably aren’t focused on the Leagues Cup. Instead, they’ve got more important problems on their hands. In fact, getting knocked out of the tournament on Thursday wouldn’t be such a bad thing for them perhaps. It would give them time to adjust to the new situation so that their 2023 MLS campaign wouldn’t go completely astray.
