Game Preview
Philadelphia Union did very well in the 2023 Leagues Cup until the semifinal. That’s where they just couldn’t handle Inter Miami – Messi & Co. destroyed them 4-1.
But before that loss, Philly put on a couple of decent performances. Daniel Gazdag has been their midfield commander, who’s been in charge of organizing this team’s attacks. However, it’s the defense they’ve been surprisingly good at. With the exception of the Inter Miami game, these guys did great at the back in every game.

The big question is whether they can do well defensively against such a great team as Monterrey. “Rayados” are the former Liga MX champs who have a fantastic roster. They started the 2023 Leagues Cup in top gear and were considered one of the dark horses for winning the trophy.
In fact, they even entered the semifinal game against Nashville SC as the favorites. However, they just couldn’t get on target in that game. Despite making 21 goal attempts and keeping the ball in their possession for almost two-thirds of the time, they ended up losing 2-0.

Philly will be boosted by the home crowd support, while Monterrey will be motivated by the fact that this team is defending the honor of Mexican soccer.
