MLS Preview: Charlotte vs. FC Cincinnati Prediction, Odds, and Picks (Jul 8)
- FC Cincinnati is the team that’s collected more points than anyone else in the 2023 MLS.
- Cincy to miss a couple of important players on July 8 who are away with the USMNT.
- Charlotte’s players are coming home after a mid-week trip to New York.
Charlotte FC players are coming back to North Carolina after a somewhat disappointing trip to New York, which saw them win only one point against NYCFC despite having a lead for most of the time.
The worst thing about their Big Apple adventure is that it happened on Wednesday night, meaning that some of Charlotte’s players might feel too tired ahead of Saturday’s clash with the mighty FC Cincinnati, whose most recent game happened on the first of July.

Game Preview
Charlotte FC is without a win since May, with four draws in the last four games. It seems unlikely that the boys from North Carolina will improve their form this weekend. It’s because one of the league’s best teams is coming to Charlotte this Saturday. The team in question is FC Cincinnati, which has the best record in the 2023 MLS – 13-5-2 or 44 points.

What’s feeding Christian Lattanzio’s men with optimism is that Cincy’s recent form isn’t that great. The team coached by Pat Noonan is 0-1-1 in the last two rounds, which coincides with the ongoing Gold Cup – two of Cincinnati’s best players are away with the USMNT (defender Matt Miazga and striker Brandon Vazquez).
Charlotte vs. FC Cincinnati Prediction
We think we might see another of Charlotte’s games end in a tie. Pat Noonan is missing a few important players while Christian Lattanzio’s players are probably jaded after their trip to New York mid-week. That’s why we expect to see a relatively uneventful game on July 8, possibly with no goals.
