Game Preview

This is going to be the first Chicago Fire vs St. Louis City game in the MLS. The two did meet once in the US Open Cup. It happened last Tuesday, and we saw the Chicago club win 2-1 mostly thanks to a very good display of their defense.

St. Louis City players created more chances than the opposition but failed to score more than once. In fact, they scored their only goal in the 3rd minute of stoppage time. This is kind of strange, given the fact that St. Louis City is the highest-scoring team in the MLS in the 2023 season.

These guys have been scoring 2.20 goals per game on average in the league. In the US Open Cup, they struggled to find the net for over an hour and a half. The explanation for that is that coach Bradley Carnell decided to keep his key men on the bench in the cup game. He obviously values the MLS more, which is why you can expect to see all of St. Louis City’s best players on the pitch on Saturday afternoon.

This goes for this team’s scoring leader Joao Klauss as well. The Brazilian striker missed the last four games due to an injury, but reports suggest he’s ready to come back this weekend.

Chicago Fire vs St. Louis City Prediction

Oddsmakers see the boys from St. Louis as +273 underdogs, but we’re certain that Bradley Carnell’s men can stage an upset. They’ve got the manpower to pull it off. After all, they’re still sitting in the No. 2 place in the West. Meanwhile, Chicago Fire is second from the bottom in the East.
