Game Preview
FC Dallas is 7-5-7 this season, with a 1-0-4 record in the last five MLS games. Three of those losses happened to teams with fewer points than them. The only win in those five rounds, however, happened against the team that’s topping the Western Conference table – St. Louis City. FC Dallas won that fight 2-0, with both goals scored very late in the game.
What’s interesting is that St. Louis isn’t the only giant FC Dallas has slain so far in 2023. This team has also defeated Austin FC, Real Salt Lake, and LA Galaxy. Further, FC Dallas drew with MLS heavyweights like the San Jose Earthquakes, Portland Timbers, and Houston Dynamo.
Another reason why the Texans look capable of beating LAFC is that the reigning champs are not playing great soccer lately – they’re 2-0-3 in their last five MLS games.

Another major problem for the visitors from California is that several of their first-team players will miss Saturday’s game. Defender Aaron Long is with the USMNT at the 2023 Gold Cup, while Kellyn Acosta, Sergi Palencia, and Jesus Murillo are all injured.

The last time these two met in Dallas, the hosts won 2-1. We think something similar might happen on July 1. Both teams are almost guaranteed to score, with FC Dallas (probably) being the one to score more.
