MLS Preview: Inter Miami vs. Charlotte Prediction, Odds, and Picks (Oct 18)

By · Updated 2 years ago
  • Inter Miami stands no chance of making the playoffs no matter what happens in the next two games.
  • Lionel Messi is currently in Argentina and is unlikely to feature in the Inter Miami vs. Charlotte game.
  • Charlotte needs to win at least a couple of points to book a spot in the postseason.

The Inter Miami vs. Charlotte game on Wednesday, October 18, is the last time The Herons will play an MLS game on their turf – DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, FL – in 2023. It’s because Lionel Messi’s team stands no chance of making the 2023 MLS Playoffs.

Charlotte, on the other hand, still does. That’s why you can be 100% certain the visitors from North Carolina will give their utmost in the Inter Miami vs. Charlotte game.

Game Preview

Inter Miami is without a single win in the MLS since beating Toronto FC (the worst team in the East) on September 20. That was the last time we saw Lionel Messi in the Herons’ shirt. The soccer GOAT picked up a muscle injury in that game and hasn’t played since.

Without him, Inter Miami played two draws and lost two games, the result of which is that they’re now out of the playoff race. Whatever happens by the end of the season, the Herons will not advance to the postseason.

Charlotte, however, still stands a chance to do so. This team is three places below the playoff zone but has played two games fewer than the team occupying the last available postseason spot (DC United). In simple terms, if Charlotte wins its two remaining games, this team will break into the Top 9.

Inter Miami vs. Charlotte Prediction

Lionel Messi is not in Florida at the moment but in his home country of Argentina. He’s with his national team, meaning that we probably won’t see him on the field in the Inter Miami vs. Charlotte game. We also probably won’t see his former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba, who’s struggling with an injury. Meanwhile, most of Charlotte’s key men are set to play on Wednesday.
