MLS Preview: New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union Prediction, Odds, and Picks (Nov 8)
- New England lost 3-1 to Philadelphia in the first leg of their 2023 MLS Playoffs doubleheader.
- The Revolution was second on the list of the best home teams in the Eastern Conference in the regular season.
- The Union has the fourth-most expensive roster in the MLS in 2023, with Gazdag and Carranza being their two most valuable players.
The New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union odds suggest we’re going to see a real battle on the field of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. That’s when these two Eastern Conference sides will play the second leg of their 2023 MLS Playoffs Round One doubleheader.
Philadelphia won their first duel 3-1, so it’s now up to New England to go all-in. The boys from Massachusetts need to win by two goals just to take the series to the third game, while a win by three or more goals would take them straight to the Conference Semifinals.
So, can they pull it off? The 2023 MLS Playoff odds suggest that they can win on November 8, but that they probably won’t win by enough margin. What do we think? Keep reading our New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union preview to find out!

Game Preview
According to Transfermarkt, the Philadelphia Union is the fourth-most valuable team in the 2023 MLS. Philly’s player with the biggest price tag is Hungarian playmaker Daniel Gazdag, followed by Argentine striker Julian Carranza.
These two guys were brilliant in the regular season, each scoring 14 goals. They also impressed in the first duel with New England, in which Gazdag was crowned the man of the match.
It’s not much of a surprise that Philly won that game. After all, it was played on their turf. Not only are the Union players great at home, but those playing for the Revolution seem to hate playing on the road. In the regular season, they collected only 15 points, which was better than only four Eastern Conference teams.

In Foxborough, however, they usually do well. They finished the regular season with a 12-4-1 record, which accounts for 40 points. That’s just one point fewer than FC Cincinnati, the best home side in the East.
New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union Prediction
We think there’s no way the Revolution can beat the Union by enough goals to qualify for the next phase of the 2023 MLS Playoffs. But we do feel as though they could win. The last time these two met at Gillette Stadium, the hosts won 2-1. We wouldn’t be too surprised if the same scenario played out on November 8.
