Game Preview
The winner of the MLS Cup two years ago is on a horrible run right now, with nine games without a single win. The last time NYCFC won a game was on April 21. The Sky Blues defeated FC Dallas 3-1 at home, which was their fourth home win in the MLS this season.
Since then, they’ve played another three games at home, losing two of those and tying one. It sounds bad, but there’s an explanation for why these guys did not do great at home. Nicholas Cushing’s men played against really tough opponents in those three games – Philadelphia Union, FC Cincinnati, and New England Revolution.

Each of those three teams is currently in the top 4 of the Eastern Conference, while NYCFC’s next opponent is currently occupying the sixth place. Columbus Crew isn’t as great as the teams NYFC previously played in New York, but these guys are in fantastic form.
Wilfried Nancy’s men won their last three MLS games, scoring a total of nine goals along the way. Truth be told, they played against much weaker opponents – Colorado Rapids, Charlotte, and Chicago Fire – all of which are sitting below the playoff zone at the moment of writing.
NYCFC vs. Columbus Crew Prediction
New York City FC is overdue a win. “Boys in Blue” really need to step up on Saturday and grab all three points against an opponent with which they’ve got a pretty decent history, particularly in games played in Big Apple. At home, NYFC is 7-1-2 against Columbus Crew in the MLS.
