MLS Preview: Philadelphia United vs. FC Cincinnati Prediction, Odds, and Picks (Sep 16)
- FC Cincinnati has secured the ticket to the MLS Playoffs.
- Philadelphia United is 4-1-0 against FC Cincinnati at Subaru Park.
FC Cincinnati is the only MLS team that’s already booked the ticket for the 2023 Playoffs. Cincy is sitting top of the table with a 17-6-4 record, which accounts for 57 points. This coming weekend, the boys from Ohio are coming to Pennsylvania to take on Philadelphia Union, a team that has 11 points fewer (14-4-8), but which has played one game fewer.
What’s interesting is that Cincy has a horrible record against Philly with just two wins in their 10 MLS meetings. Neither of those happened in Philadelphia. Maybe Saturday, September 16 is when that changes?

Game Preview
FC Cincinnati has secured its place in the postseason. Philadelphia Union has not, but these guys shouldn’t worry about their playoff destiny. They just need to win a few more games and their job in the regular season is done.
So, can they beat the mighty FC Cincinnati? Philly is in great shape right now, coming off a 4-1 win over New York Red Bulls on September 3. Cincy, however, lost its most recent game. It happened on their turf against Orlando City (1-0). That was kind of strange because FC Cincinnati was undefeated at home before that game.

Pat Noonan’s boys are good on the road as well, but they have some very bad memories from their trips to Philadelphia. They’re without a single win in Philly, with a 0-1-4 record in competitive games.
Philadelphia United vs. FC Cincinnati Prediction
FC Cincinnati is one of the best teams in the league, but this team doesn’t need points. It’s a bit different story when it comes to Philadelphia United. This team is still in need of points, which is why they’re going to take this game very seriously.
