  • U-17 coach Terry Dunfield will lead The Reds in the July 1 game.
  • Real Salt Lake has one of the best offenses in the 2023 MLS.

The Toronto FC vs. Real Salt Lake MLS game on July 1 will be The Reds’ first game without Bob Bradly as their coach in nearly two years. On Tuesday afternoon, the Toronto FC management announced the club is parting ways with the 65-year-old coach after a series of disappointing results.

Until they find a new head coach, Toronto’s U-17 coach Terry Dunfield will lead the senior team. The first game with him at the helm is the one against Real Salt Lake this coming Saturday.

Game Preview

There’s just one team in the Eastern Conference that’s collected fewer points than Toronto FC. It’s Inter Miami, who’s played two games fewer. That said, it’s no surprise that Toronto’s bosses decided to sack Bob Bradley. The Reds are 3-10-7 this season with a 0-3-2 record in the last five MLS rounds.

In those five games, they scored just three goals in total, which is surprising considering that they’ve got some really good players in the attacking department – Lorenzo Insigne, Federico Bernardeschi, C.J. Sapong, and so on.

They should be able to improve their attacking stats this weekend when they’re taking on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. With 31 goals conceded in 20 games, Real Salt Lake is one of the worst teams in the 2023 MLS in terms of defending.

Their offense, however, has been more than decent. So far, they’ve scored 25 goals, which is why they were able to collect 27 points (7-6-7 record). They’re currently 7th in the West and could get all the way to the 3rd position if they beat Toronto FC on Saturday.

Toronto FC vs. Real Salt Lake Prediction

The boys from Utah really need to take advantage of the current situation in Toronto. There’s pressure on the Reds to attack, which will leave room for Real Salt Lake’s counterattacks. With pacey players like Jefferson Savarino and Danny Musovski, they should be able to hit Toronto FC on the break.
