Game Preview
Whitecaps eliminated Saprissa in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, beating the Costa Rican team 2-0 Thursday night at BC Place. After a 1-2 loss on the road, that was enough for the Canadian team to advance to the next stage. Brian White netted a brace in this victory.
Vancouver opened the MLS season well, trashing Portland Timbers on the road, 1-4. At one moment, the Whitecaps had a 0-4 lead, but they slowed down afterward.
The MLS Cup champions, LA Galaxy, opened the campaign with a loss to the new expansion team, San Diego, 0-2. Galaxy was outplayed in all the aspects of the match and deserved to suffer a loss.
We have to mention that during the entire preseason, the LA franchise posted just one victory, with two losses and ties each. That’s not a great record, you’d have to admit.
