Game Preview
Portland Timbers lost two of the previous three MLS fixtures. After being trashed by the Whitecaps in the opener, 1-4, they defeated Austin FC 1-0 and then lost to Nashville on the road, 2-0.
From what we saw, the defense is the team’s weakest part, even though it didn’t look that way during the preseason.
LA Galaxy had five defeats in a row, counting one in the preseason. They defeated Herediano in the CONCACAF Champions Cup second leg, 4-1, to stop the negative streak.
Despite having superstars like Marco Reus upfront, Galaxy struggles to score, having three games without a goal in the previous five.
