Match Preview
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal continue to keep pace in the Premier League title race, but they will need a strong second half of the season if they are to catch Liverpool. The Gunners come into the festive matches sitting third in the standings, and they are currently six points behind the pace being set by Liverpool.
However, Arsenal have bounced back to their best form in recent weeks after avoiding defeat in their last five, and winning three times over that period. Their most impressive win was recorded on Saturday, as they smashed five against Crystal Palace.
Ipswich was on the receiving end of a hammering, as they lost 4-0 at home to Newcastle. That result demoted the Tractor Boys to 19th in the league standings, but they could yet end the 18th round of matches outside of the relegation places with a famous win at Arsenal.

However, Arsenal have dominated the previous encounters between the sides, having avoided defeat in their last 13 league matches against the Tractor Boys. The last league win for Ipswich was recorded back in September 1984. Meanwhile, Ipswich are winless on their last eleven trips to Arsenal.
Arsenal’s record against promoted sides also deserves huge respect ahead of this showdown. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 41 matches against promoted teams at the Emirates, winning each of the last 12.
Arsenal vs. Ipswich Picks
Arsenal look challenging to oppose this weekend, and they have signed off in three of the last four calendar years with a victory. That sequence looks set to continue against the Tractor Boys on Friday.
