Match Preview
The first match of the new year will be staged at the Gtech Community Stadium this week, as Arsenal look to record a third straight win.
The Gunners have moved to within six points of Liverpool at the summit, although, they have played a game more than their title rivals. Arsenal continued to showcase their credentials at the summit on Friday, as they recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ipswich at the Emirates. However, they will need to improve on New Year’s Day if they are to get the better of Brentford.
The Bees will be hoping for a positive start to the new calendar year after failing to win in their last three in the Premier League. Brentford were last in action playing out a 0-0 draw at Brighton on Friday.

Brentford recorded a famous 2-0 win against Arsenal in the first Premier League meeting between the sides in August 2021. However, since then, Arsenal are unbeaten in the last five meetings, winning four times over that period.
