Match Preview
Aston Villa remain in a strong position to gain European qualification this season, but Unai Emery’s hopes will be dependent on the club bouncing back to their best domestic form. Villa should come into this round in good confidence after registering a 3-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League, but they have won just once in their last four in the league.
Brentford could move to within a point of Villa in the league standings if they are able to claim a victory at home this Saturday. The Bees come into this round after going three without a defeat, and winning on two occasions across that period.

Villa have avoided defeat in their last five against Brentford, winning on three occasions across that period. The West Midlands side were also winners in the previous encounter between the sides in December. However, Villa haven’t completed a league double over Brentford since 1946-47.
Villa have scored at least once in each of the seven Premier League meetings between the sides. But, they have kept just one clean sheet against the Bees in that sequence.
Brentford’s excellent home form at the start of the season has ended recently, and they come into this round after going six without a win at the Gtech Community Stadium. However, Villa have also struggled on the road after picking up just four points from their last nine.
Brentford vs. Aston Villa Picks
Villa’s attention is likely to be on their upcoming Champions League second leg with Club Brugge. Therefore, this represents a perfect opportunity for Brentford to get their home record back on track.
