Chelsea’s Champions League ambitions hang in the balance at this stage of the season, as Enzo Maresca’s side have dropped to seventh in the standings after losing three of their last four. Despite that poor run of form, the Blues remain just a point off the Champions League spots, and a win on Tuesday could see them re-enter the top four before Man City and Newcastle are in action.

Southampton’s chances of remaining in the Premier League already appear incredibly slim at this stage of the campaign. The Saints have won just twice in 26 outings this term, and they have the worst attacking and defensive records in the competition. Southampton have suffered defeats in four of their last five.

Chelsea have a surprisingly poor record against Southampton after losing two of the last three meetings. However, it could be worth noting that their only win was recorded in the reverse fixture in December after scoring five. Southampton were 1-0 winners on their most recent trip to Stamford Bridge in 2022-23.
