Match Preview
The 2023-24 season was yet another testing campaign for Everton, as the Toffees battled at the wrong end of the standings for much of the campaign. They were handed a ten-point deduction due to their breach of profit and sustainability rules, which was the biggest in Premier League history. Despite being hamstrung, the Toffees still finished the campaign in 15th.
Everton’s excellent defensive record was their key asset in the previous season, and it could once again be key, as they look for improvement under Sean Dyche in 2024-25. The Toffees have added some quality across the field already this summer following the additions of Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O’Brien from Marseille and Lyon, respectively.

The 2023-24 season was a famous one for Brighton, as they played in Europe for the first time in their history. However, their Europa League campaign had a direct impact on their league form, as they fell out of European contention in the second half of the season to finish down in eleventh.
However, a new era will get underway for the Seagulls this season, as Roberto De Zerbi has left the club, with Fabian Hurzeler becoming the youngest manager in Premier League history. It has been a promising start for the new coach, as the Seagulls are one of few teams in the competition to have won all of their pre-season matches this summer.
Everton vs Brighton Picks
Everton have avoided defeat in their last three matches against Brighton, but they are winless in their last three home matches. Therefore, we could take a chance on a draw and both teams finding the net at Goodison Park on Saturday.
