Marco Silva deserves credit for the job that he is doing at Fulham, and he could be among the choices for Manager of the Season at this very early stage.

The Cottagers come into the busy festive period sitting eighth in the current standings, and they have gone four without defeat in the Premier League. However, it could be worth noting that three matches over that period have ended in draws.

Regardless, that remains better form than any Southampton has shown this term. The Saints remain bottom of the standings, winning just once in their 16 outings. They come into this round after losing each of their last three.

Fulham achieved rare success in the previous meetings between the sides, completing the league double in 2022-23. That came after winning just once in their previous nine against the Saints. However, Southampton have won just once in their last nine visits to Craven Cottage.

The Saints have been poor against London sides on the road in the Premier League, losing eight of their last ten. The only exceptions came in the form of a win at Chelsea and a 3-3 draw at Arsenal.
