A big midweek round of matches is set for the Premier League, and it could prove to be a golden opportunity for Ipswich to move out of the relegation places. The Tractor Boys have been very consistent since moving to a 5-4-1 formation, and they come into this week after avoiding defeat in their last two. A win on Thursday could see them end the round as high as 16th in the Premier League table.

Brighton have been dropping at an alarming rate in the Premier League in recent months, with their six wins being the fewest of any side in the top 13 positions in the table. The Seagulls have found wins hard to come by in recent weeks, playing out draws in each of their last four. However, they did pick up a morale-boosting win in the FA Cup on Saturday against Norwich.

Ipswich will be playing a home match against Brighton in the league for the first time since a 0-0 tie in the second tier in September 2016. Meanwhile, this will be a first top-flight meeting between the clubs since January 1983. The Seagulls are winless in their last four against the Tractor Boys, but three matches over that period have ended in draws.

Ipswich’s return to form has been evident in recent weeks, as they have picked up more points and scored more goals in their last two than they had in their seven previous matches. But, Brighton’s four-game drawing run does show that they will be hard to beat. Meanwhile, no side in the Premier League has drawn five straight matches since Fuham between December 2020 and January 2021.
