Match Preview
The 2023-24 season will be one that Man United fans will be hoping to forget about in a hurry after finishing in their lowest position in the Premier League era. United’s new era gets underway at Old Trafford on Friday, with Fulham being the first visitors to the Theatre of Dreams in 2024-25.
Ten Hag would have been pleased with his side’s performance in the Community Shield on Saturday, but the Red Devils were ultimately beaten on penalties by Man City at Wembley. Alejandro Garnacho had put United ahead in that clash, before City equalized in the final ten minutes. Matthijs de Ligt could be thrown straight in to make his United debut.

Fulham will have high hopes of improving on their 13th-place finish in the Premier League this term, as they compete in their third top-flight campaign in succession. Marco Silva remains the man in charge at the Cottage, but the club will be without influential stars such as Joao Palhinha and Tosin this season after both departed the club during the pre-season break.
However, the Cottagers have added proven Premier League experience in the final third of the field, with Emile Smith Rowe and Ryan Sessegnon being brought to the club from Arsenal and Tottenham, respectively. Their pre-season form was also reliable after winning four of their five matches.
