The size of the challenge on the hands of Ruben Amorim has only been made easier to see during the busy festive period of matches for Man United.
United come into this round sitting 14th in the standings, and they have suffered defeats in four of their last five matches. That includes a loss on Boxing Day at Wolves, as United saw Bruno Fernandes sent off at Molineux.
Newcastle will bring the increased confidence into this round of matches, and they could close the gap on the Champions League spots to three points with a famous win at Old Trafford. The Magpies were excellent on Boxing Day, as they eased to a 3-0 home win over Aston Villa.
