Match Preview

The action in the Premier League this weekend kicks off with a thrilling clash between Aston Villa and Brighton. These two sides have been among the most eye-catching teams over the opening weeks of the season, and a victory for either on Saturday would move them into the Champions League spots before the rest of the teams in the competition can respond.

Aston Villa will have home advantage this weekend, as they look to record a third straight victory in the Premier League. Unai Emery’s side should come into this clash in good confidence, as they picked up a hard-earned 1-0 away win against Chelsea last Sunday. The winning effort was struck by Ollie Watkins with just 18 minutes remaining.

Brighton will also be looking to kick on after making a solid start to the new Premier League season. The Seagulls currently sit third in the overall standings, but they could move to the top of the standings for a couple of hours at least with maximum points against Villa this weekend.

Brighton have been excellent in recent weeks, as they have won each of their last three. Their most recent success was a comeback victory against Bournemouth on Sunday, with Kaoru Mitoma netting twice in a 3-1 home success over the Cherries. It was the perfect response after a midweek loss in the Europa League against AEK Athens.

Aston Villa vs Brighton Prediction

Villa’s record in this fixture is hard to overlook, as they have won each of their previous four against the Seagulls. We could see that run being maintained on Saturday, with the hosts winning maximum points and both teams finding the back of the net.
