Match Preview
Aston Villa got their season back on track last weekend after ending a run of two defeats in three matches with a success at Fulham. It was a pivotal win for Unai Emery’s side, as it moved the West Midlands side back into the Champions League spots. They could move clear of the chasing pack with a second straight win on Saturday.
It is also an important weekend for the visitors, as Nottingham Forest remain locked in a battle to stay in the division. Forest sit just four points clear of the relegation places, and they come into this round of matches after picking up a much-needed success against West Ham in their previous match. That victory ended a four-game winless run.

Villa’s record in home matches against Forest deserves a lot of respect this weekend, as they have suffered just one defeat in their last 14 at Villa Park against their rivals. Meanwhile, they are unbeaten in seven since a 2-0 defeat in October 1994. However, Forest landed victory in the first meeting between the sides this term, and they are chasing a first league double over Villa since 1984-85.
Villa’s excellent home record, which saw them go 17 without defeat has come to an end, as they have now lost each of their last two at Villa Park. However, they haven’t suffered three home defeats on the bounce since November 2020. Their attacking record remains strong, having scored in all but three of their last 25 matches.
Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
It appears hard to bet against the Villa this weekend. Their chances of victory are certainly enhanced based on the fact that Forest have lost 21 of their last 23 away matches in the top-flight against sides starting the day in the top four.
