Match Preview
Brentford had questions to answer before a ball was kicked this season, as many queried whether they would be in a relegation scrap without Ivan Toney. However, the Bees have started the new season without last season’s top scorer in excellent form, after picking up four points from their opening two matches at the start of the new campaign.
Thomas Frank’s side was excellent on the road on matchday two, as they landed a 3-0 success against Fulham. Bryan Mbeumo netted twice, while Yoane Wissa continued to stand up in the absence of Toney by netting twice. The win means that the Bees are now unbeaten in their last eleven league matches against sides from London.

Crystal Palace rounded off the Premier League weekend on Monday, but they were unable to back up their win on the opening day. But, Roy Hodgson would have taken positives from his side’s performance, despite suffering a 1-0 loss against Arsenal at Selhurst Park. The Eagles looked comfortable defensively throughout that match, but they lacked a spark in the final third.
That isn’t completely surprising, as they are without a lot of attacking stars, including Michael Olise, who recently signed a new deal at the club. Palace are without a win in four Premier League clashes with the Bees, with all the matches across the previous two seasons ending in draws.

The fact that each of the previous four Premier League clashes between the sides have ended in draws is an interesting angle. However, the preference remains for Brentford after their impressive start to the new season. We would also be surprised to see both teams find the net.
