Match Preview
Tottenham kick off their 2023-24 campaign on Sunday, as they face a testing visit to Brentford. It has been a busy summer in North London, but confidence surrounding their chances this term will be enhanced following the club’s ability to keep hold of Harry Kane. Fans will be hoping for a much better campaign than last term, as Spurs missed out on a European finish for the first time in over ten years.
However, they have lost their opening match of the season on just one occasion in the previous seven campaigns. Furthermore, this will be the first time that Tottenham will kick off the season with a London derby, having beat West Ham 1-0 at the start of the 2014-15 season in Mauricio Pochettino’s first game in charge.

Brentford achieved a best-ever finish in the Premier League last term, but there will be uncertainty surrounding their chances of repeating that feat this term. Much of that is due to the suspension handed to Ivan Toney, as the striker scored 20 goals in the league last season, but will be unavailable for selection until the start of 2024.
The Bees have won their opening match of the season in just two of their previous eleven seasons. However, they haven’t lost on matchday one in each of their previous Premier League campaigns. But, the Bees have won just twice in ten previous league meetings against Spurs, having suffered four losses over that period.

This should be an entertaining match to kick off the season at Brentford. However, we will be siding with Spurs to edge a high-scoring clash between the sides to land a fifth win in eleven against the Bees.
