Match Preview
It hasn’t been the season that either Chelsea or Newcastle would have been hoping for this term, but both could still finish the campaign in a European position. Chelsea come into this round in decent recent form after going three without defeat, but they have played out draws in each of their last two fixtures.
Their most recent dropped points came on the road against Brentford, as they required a late Axel Disasi goal to rescue a point in that away match. But, positives would have been taken from their strong performance, and they could be dangerous on the counter-attack for Newcastle this weekend.

Newcastle’s standards have dropped this term, and that has seen them slide down the league standings and out of contention for a finish in the Champions League spots. The Magpies come into this round after an excellent 3-0 win over Wolves last time out, ending a two-game winless run in the competition.
However, their away form is a massive concern ahead of this fixture. Newcastle have recorded just three wins on the road this term, and they have allowed a staggering 29 goals. It doesn’t help their chances that they are without an away league win at Stamford Bridge since May 2012, with nine of the last ten being won by Chelsea.
