Match Preview
Chelsea’s turbulent campaign has continued in recent weeks, as they have dropped to 12th in the standings after losing each of their last two, and three of their last four. Meanwhile, their only win over their last five was recorded at home against Brighton a few weeks ago. A third straight defeat this weekend could see them drop to 15th.
Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t lost three games on the bounce since December 2013 during his time at Southampton. It is hard to support Chelsea’s recent form, as they have picked up just 39 points in 2023. That is the fewest of any of the sides that have competed in the Premier League in each of the last two seasons.

Chris Wilder picked up a first win at Sheffield United following his return in his second match in charge of the club last weekend. It was a strong defensive effort from the Blades, as they held on to a 1-0 success at Bramall Lane against Brentford. However, their chances of victory could be damaged based on the fact that no side from Yorkshire has won at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League in 19 efforts.
The Blades have also failed to keep a clean sheet on their 29 previous visits to Chelsea since a goalless draw in October 1922. Over that period, they have allowed 64 goals. Meanwhile, Sheffield United have lost five of their last seven against the Blues, with their only win coming at home in 2019-20.
Chelsea vs Sheffield United Prediction
This is a must-win game for Chelsea on Saturday, but it is hard not to have been impressed by United’s performance last weekend. Therefore, it could be worth siding with the Blades or Draw in the Double Chance market.
