Match Preview
The busy period of matches in the Premier League continues on Boxing Day, with the 19th round of matches kicking off at St. James’ Park. Newcastle will have the home field advantage in their hunt to move closer to the Champions League spots. Victory in their match on Saturday could leave them within two points of Man City in fourth.
Steve Cooper’s time at the City Ground was ended in the week before Christmas, with former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo announced as his replacement just hours later. A response will be expected by Forest, as they have dropped to 17th in the standings after losing four of their last five in the Premier League.

Newcastle completed the double over Forest last term, scoring twice in both matches that they played against their East Midlands rivals. That includes a 2-0 home success in August 2022. That was the fifth straight league win that the Magpies had recorded in home matches against Forest across all competitions.
In fact, you need to go back to January 1997 for the last time that Forest landed a league away win at St. James’ Park. Forest’s only two wins against Newcastle since the start of 2010 were achieved in the third round of the League Cup, with the most recent of those coming in August 2018.
Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
Forest will need to be stronger defensively on the road on Boxing Day if they are to stand any chance of picking up any points at St. James’ Park. However, we find it challenging to see any other outcome than a victory for the home side.
