Match Preview
Both Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United kicked off the new season with defeats. However, more positives would have been taken from Forests’ performance, as they gave Arsenal a late scare at the Emirates in the first match on Saturday. The East Midlands side started slowly in that match, as they fell 2-0 behind after just 32 minutes.
However, they responded in excellent fashion in the second half, and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. They pulled a goal back through Taiwo Awoniyi with just eight minutes remaining, but they weren’t able to get a shock equalizer in the remaining time on the clock.

It has been a strange summer of activity for Sheffield United, as they have allowed a number of their top players to depart the club. They looked disjointed in their opening match of the 2023-24 season, as they fell to a 1-0 home defeat against Crystal Palace. The Blades managed just one shot on target, and were fortunate not to lose by a wider margin.
This is the first top-flight meeting between the sides since 1993. Forest boasts an excellent recent record, as they have lost just once in eight previous encounters. The most recent meeting came in the playoffs in 2022, with Forest edging through after two legs.

This looks like a great opportunity for Forest to get off the mark in the Premier League this season. We fully expect the hosts to claim maximum points, and that could be achieved with a 2-0 victory at the City Ground.
