Match Preview
Ange Postecoglou would have been happy enough with his first match in charge of Tottenham, as his side battled to secure a 2-2 draw on the road against Brentford. However, they will be keen to get off the mark at the first attempt at home this term on Saturday. But, this is a fixture that Spurs have experienced little joy in throughout Premier League history.
Spurs have won just one of their previous nine against United, and they are winless in their previous five against the Red Devils. Over that period, they have suffered four defeats. However, Tottenham have won their opening match of the season in each of the previous two campaigns. But, they haven’t opened their season with a home win in three straight seasons since 1966-67.

Man United were way below their best in their opening match of the season, but they still managed to get over the line with a 1-0 win against Wolves. Raphael Varane scored United’s only goal in the match, but they were hugely fortunate not to have been held to a draw at Old Trafford. United have enjoyed their trips to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as they are one of just two teams yet to suffer defeat at the new stadium.
The Red Devils have a poor record in their opening away match of the season, as they have won just once in the previous five. Their only win was a 3-2 success against Brighton in 2020-21. Last season, their first away match of the season saw United suffer a huge 4-0 loss at Brentford.

United will need to be much stronger in the middle of the field on Saturday, as they can’t afford to allow Tottenham the same number of chances as they allowed Wolves. We expect Erik ten Hag to iron out this issue, and we will be siding with United to land maximum points in an entertaining match-up in North London.
