Match Preview

A miserable period of the season continued for Tottenham in midweek, as Spurs were handed a fourth defeat in five matches against West Ham. That loss means that the North London club sit fifth in the standings, and they could drop to eighth by the end of the upcoming weekend if results go against them. Therefore, a big response will be expected this weekend.

Newcastle will also be in need of a much better performance on Sunday, as the Magpies were handed a massive 3-0 loss on the road by Everton in midweek. That defeat was their second in four matches, and means that they dropped to seventh in the standings. However, a return to winning ways could see them end the upcoming round in fifth.

This should be one of the most entertaining matches on the Premier League schedule this weekend, as it has produced more goals per game than any other fixture. On average, 3.16 goals are scored when these sides meet, with both teams having scored in each of the last seven matches between the teams.

However, Newcastle boasts an excellent recent record in London, as they are unbeaten in eight since a 5-1 loss against Tottenham in April 2022. In fact, the Magpies have won eleven matches on the road against Spurs, which is their joint-most against a single side in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Tottenham were also beaten in both fixtures against Newcastle last term, and haven’t endured a longer winless run against their rivals since 2008.

Tottenham vs Newcastle Prediction

Tottenham’s run of form continues to be a concern when it comes to their chances of a European finish this term. We don’t expect things to improve this weekend, as we will be siding with Newcastle to maintain their healthy record against Spurs.
