Match Preview
It was a hectic week before the start of the new season for Wolves, as they were forced to bring in Gary O’Neil following Julen Lopetegui’s departure. However, he quickly got across his plan for the opening match of the new season against Man United, and they could have easily took maximum points from their trip to Old Trafford.
Wolves dominated for long periods at the Theatre of Dreams, but missed no shortage of glorious opportunities. They registered 25 shots in their 1-0 defeat, which was the most from a traveling side at Old Trafford since 2005. But, the same issues plagued them in their opening match as they did last term, as the Black Country team were the lowest scorers in the top-flight last season.

Brighton had no such issues in finding the back of the net in their opening match, as they scored four against Luton Town. However, the Seagulls arguably should have won by a more commanding margin, as they registered 27 shots against their newly promoted rivals. Joao Pedro was among the scorers for Brighton, as he was one of two players to score on debut against Luton, with Simon Adingra also finding the net.
Brighton will take confidence from their record in this fixture, as they have won seven of the previous 18 meetings. That includes victories in each of their previous two trips to Molineux, and they have scored six goals across those visits to the Black Country.
Wolves vs Brighton Prediction
Wolves were impressive in their opener, but their lack of clinical edge in the final third continues to be a major issue. Brighton will know what to expect against Wolves this weekend, and we could see the Seagulls landing a second straight win to start the new season.
