Match Preview

Wolves will be aiming to break into the top half of the Premier League standings this weekend, as a victory against Sheffield United would move them up to as high as seventh in the standings. The side from the Black Country have recorded victories in two of their last three matches, and they have suffered two defeats across their last five in the competition.

Things are looking pretty bleak for Sheffield United at this stage of the season, as the Blades are still sitting bottom of the league standings after 25 rounds of matches. They come into this fixture sporting the worst goals against record in the Premier League, with another five goals shipped in a heavy home loss against Brighton last Sunday.

Wolves have a very strong home record in this fixture, as they have gone eight without defeat against Sheffield United at Molineux since a 3-1 loss in the second tier in October 2002. However, the Blades landed one of their few victories this term in the reverse clash, meaning that they are chasing a first league double over Wolves since the 1989-90 season.

The home side have won five of their last eight league matches, but each of their two defeats over that period have been suffered at home. Sheffield United landed a 3-1 win at Luton in their last away match, meaning that they are chasing consecutive wins on the road for the first time in the top-flight since December 2019.

Wolves vs Sheffield United Prediction

Wolves have a fairly poor record against newly promoted sides after winning just two of their last nine since the start of last season. However, based on the performances that we have seen from the Blades in recent weeks, it remains hard to overlook the possibility of the home win.
