Match Preview
The Women’s World Cup has seen television records broken in Australia this year, and the host nation’s semi-final showdown with England on Wednesday will likely shatter the most-watched event of the year record. England comes into this semi as the clear favorites, as they secured a spot in the final four with a 2-1 win over Colombia on Saturday morning.
It is the third straight tournament in which the Lionesses have reached the semi-final stage, while England have also reached the semi-final stage in the last five major tournaments. However, the Lionesses are yet to reach a Women’s World Cup final, losing to Japan in 2015, and the USA in 2019.

It will also be a historic day for Australia on Wednesday, as they compete in their first World Cup semi-final. Defensively, the Aussies have been excellent throughout the competition, as they have kept clean sheets in four of their five previous matches. Australia have become the third host nation to reach the final four.
This will be the first time that Australia and England have collided at the World Cup. However, the Aussies landed victory in the previous clash between the sides in April 2023. That defeat for England was the only loss that the Lionesses have suffered in 37 matches under Sarina Wiegman.
Australia vs England Prediction
This should be a thrilling semi-final between two very talented nations. However, we believe England have better quality across the field, and they could gain revenge in their friendly loss against Australia by knocking the hosts out of their home World Cup at the semi-final stage.
