Match Preview
Brazil is the standout nation from the CONMEBOL region at the World Cup this summer, and they will be looking to land a first world championship success in Australia and New Zealand. The nation should come into the tournament in good spirits after winning the Copa America for the ninth time in 2022, but they will be looking to make it past the round of 16 for the first time at the World Cup since 2011.
Brazil certainly boast impressive form coming into this opening clash, as they have won each of their last two, and have gone three without defeat in regulation time. The biggest evidence that they could be a major player this summer was their 2-1 victory on the road against Germany in early April.

Panama will be making their debut at the World Cup this summer, and they will be looking to cause one of the biggest shocks in the history of the tournament in their opening match. However, it looks like an unlikely feat based on their performances over the last 12 months, which includes a group stage exit in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship in 2022.
This year, that poor form has continued. Panama has lost three of their previous five international matches, which include heavy 7-0 and 5-0 defeats against Spain and Japan, respectively. Their only win since the start of June was a big victory against lowly-ranked Gibraltar.
Brazil vs Panama Prediction
Things don’t get much tougher for Panama at the World Cup than this opening showdown against Brazil on matchday one. We expect them to struggle from the first minute against the reigning Copa America champions, and therefore we expect Brazil to comfortably cover the spread.
