Match Preview

Few nations have been as dominant in the women’s game as Germany. The two-time world champions will be looking to rediscover their form at the tournament this summer, having seen their dominant hold on the European Championships come to an end last summer. Germany’s last World Cup success was achieved in 2007, and they have failed to reach the final since then.

The European nation could only make the quarterfinals in 2019, which was the same stage that they reached at the EUROs in 2017. Germany will also be looking to bounce back after losing in the final at EURO 2022, and will have questions to answer after a shocking 3-2 loss against Zambia in their final warm-up match for the competition this year.

Morocco is one of eight nations that will be making their World Cup debut this summer. They should come into the tournament in good confidence after reaching the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history last year. However, it could be argued that progression from Group H would be seen as the best that they can manage in the tournament this year.

Morocco come into the tournament in poor recent form, as they have gone five internationals without a win. They have also failed to score in each of their matches throughout that run, with their most recent goal being scored in a 2-0 friendly win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in February.

Germany vs Morocco Prediction

Germany has questions to answer at the World Cup this summer, but this could be the perfect fixture for them to get back on track. We struggle to see anything other than a dominant win for the European nation in their Group H opener.
