Match Preview
Japan has been the most exciting team at the Women’s World Cup to this point, and they delivered a stunning string of performances to top Group C. The 2011 world champions were expected by many to reach the round of 16, but many believed that they would finish behind Spain in the standings. However, the Japanese had other ideas on matchday three, and they recorded a stunning 4-0 win over their European rivals.
That victory means that Japan scored an incredible eleven goals in their three group stage matches, and they are yet to concede in the tournament so far this summer. The win over Spain was the joint-second biggest victory recorded by an Asian side over a European rival, and that could be a daunting prospect for Norway this weekend.

Norway hasn’t yet produced their best level of performance at the Women’s World Cup this summer. But, they threatened to show their best form in their final group stage match, as Roman Haug scored a stunning hat-trick in a 6-0 win over the Philippines. But, that win has just papered over the cracks from their performances in their opening two matches.
Norway was extremely disappointing against both New Zealand and Switzerland, and they were starring down the barrel of elimination after picking up just one point. However, their experience at this stage of the competition could be an important factor to take into consideration, as they have reached the quarterfinals in six of their previous eight appearances at the World Cup.
Japan vs Norway Prediction
This will be another huge test for Japan at the Women’s World Cup, but we have been delighted with their performances to this point. Therefore, we expect them to once again have too much in the final third for their rivals, and a 3-0 win could be recorded.
