Match Preview

The 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 will be staged this weekend, with a competitive field set to line up in the historic race. The Indy 500 is one of the races that forms the Triple Crown of Motorsport, and it has been traditionally held across Memorial Day weekend. It was first contested in 1911, with the first edition involved on the IndyCar schedule coming in 1996.

The drivers involved will cover a total of 500 miles, which is covered by 200 laps of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway circuit. Four drivers are tied for the most wins in the history of the race, with A. J. Foyt, Al Unser, Rick Mears, and Helio Castroneves all won on four occasions.

Josef Newgarden is among the leading contenders this weekend, as he chases a second straight victory in the race. His chances of victory this weekend have been enhanced after qualifying third on the grid. Will Power finished the qualifying round in second, with Scott McLaughlin starting on pole.

Kyle Larson has enjoyed another strong start to the season on the NASCAR schedule, and he could be a challenging rider to overlook. The American qualified fifth, and will be looking to achieve a strong finish on his debut showing in the Indy 500.

Indianapolis 500 Prediction

There are some strong contenders in the field this weekend, and many come into the Indy 500 with live chances. However, we will be taking a chance on Alexander Rossi to land a second win. He claimed victory in 2016, and has finished inside the top five on four of his previous six attempts.
