Event Preview
The first season of Major League Cricket will be staged in the United States this summer, with Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas set to hold all matches over the three-week competition. The competition works is a straightforward format, with a round-robin format played, before the top performing sides clash in a four-match playoff phase to conclude the tournament.
Excitement levels ahead of the tournament reached new heights in the middle of March, as the first MLC draft was held in Houston. Picks were made over nine rounds, with each team having a purse of $1 million to spend. A total of $800,000 could be spent on overseas players, with the remainder spent on homegrown players from the U.S.

Seattle will be led by their top overall pick Harmeet Singh, who represented the Seattle Thunderbolts in Minor League Cricket last year. He led Tipura in the 2018-19 T20 season, taking 13 wickets from eight matches. MI New York could have an excellent chance after picking up stars such as Steven Taylor, Hammad Azam, and Monank Patel in the draft.
Washington Freedom have acquired excellent international talent, including Anrich Nortje, Glenn Phillips, and Adam Milne, with the latter impressing throughout the opening two seasons of The Hundred in the United Kingdom.
Major League Cricket Prediction
It should be a wide-open cricket event in the United States this summer, with the Orcas, led by Quinton De Kock, likely to feature heavily. However, we feel that Los Angeles Knight Riders could be the team to beat, as they already boast incredible international experience following the additions of Jason Roy and Nitish Kumar.
