Game Preview
Atlanta has big hopes for this season. They’ve broken the MLS transfer fee record, paying $22 million for Emmanuel Latte Lath. Five Stripes also landed Miguel Almiron, a veteran who played for numerous European teams.
After beating Montreal 3-2, Atlanta lost 2-0 in Charlotte. Atlanta’s focus this season will be on a very strong offense. They have what it takes to break the rivals through hard pressure.
Red Bulls also have a respectable veteran in the lineup, striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. He didn’t score in the past two rounds, with his Bulls losing in Cincinnati, 1-0, and then beating Nashville SC, 2-0.
The team had an active transfer window, but overall, we believe the Bulls have the same quality as the previous season. If they keep Emil Forsberg healthy, we could see them in the playoffs.
Team News & Lineups
Amador and Brooks Lennon are questionable for this event. They’ve trained, but on the other hand, aren’t confirmed.
Ngoma, Morales, Bogacz, Duncan, and Mitchell are all out for this one for the Red Bulls.
Atlanta United vs. New York Red Bulls Head to Head
The Five Stripes had more success last year in direct meetings. After 2-2 in New York, they won 2-1 at home.
