Playoff Odds
Team News
The Dolphins finished 9-8 last year, posting their 3rd straight season with 9 wins or more. Unlike their previous 9-8 and 10-6 seasons, Miami wasn’t left out of the postseason field, this time earning a spot. Unfortunately, they lost in the Wild Card, the same result as their last 4 appearances dating back to 2000. Miami will have to navigate the AFC East again to have a shot at earning their first playoff win in 23 years.
Miami’s offense was fantastic last season. The acquisition of WR Tyreek Hill from the Chiefs was an incredible decision. Instead of regressing without Mahomes as some speculated, Hill had the best season of his career, finishing with a 1st-team All-Pro performance of 119 receptions, 1,710 yards, and 7 TDs. WR Jaylen Waddle was also stellar. He’s averaged 80 receptions, 1,185 yards, and 7 TDs in his first 2 seasons.
Prediction
Projecting the Dolphins in or out of the playoffs was one of the hardest decisions to make. I see the AFC with the Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, and Jaguars winning the divisions. The Ravens and Chargers are in pretty good shape to return to the postseason, leaving the final spot to primarily the Dolphins, Steelers, and Jets. I honestly think it could go either way, but right now I’m leaning towards Miami’s defense keeping them out.
