Game Preview
Draper managed to rebuff Ben Shelton’s attacks and won in straight sets against the home-favorite, 6-4, 7-5. He was perfect in the moments when needed the most, converting three of his five break points.
This is the fourth straight win in Indian Wells in which Draper didn’t drop a set. He played against Rublev in the Doha finals, and if he manages to reach the title match here, the Australian will enter the top 10 in the ATP rankings.
Alcaraz also beat his rivals in straight sets. Francisco Cerundolo was his victim. The young Spaniard is also perfect so far, not losing a single set in Tuscon. And we have to mention that he played against Shapovalov and Dimitrov before.
He had to go through a tiebreak in the second set to beat the Argentinian, 7-4, but overall, this was a satisfying performance for the Spaniard.
Draper vs. Alcaraz Head-to-Head
So far, these two guys have met four times, and the result is in Carlos’ favor, 3-1. Their most recent event was at the Australian Open this year when Draper retired with Alcaraz leading 2-0.
Draper vs. Alcaraz Predictions
Both guys are in excellent shape. Draper played mostly against strong servers in the first rounds, while Alcaraz had bigger names in his part of the draw. Our pick here would be the Spaniart to triumph and reach the finals, precisely because Draper’s stamina wasn’t tested properly.
