Sinner is still under heavy pressure regarding his doping scandal. WADA now wants to see him out of the picture for at least two years, but the Italian isn’t allowing this to distract him from the court.
His performances are very good, and for the moment, his lone loss in the last two months came to Alcaraz in the Beijing finals. Afterward, he defeated Daniel 2-0 and Etcheverry 2-1 here in Shanghai in the opening two rounds.
Shelton was better than Denis Shapovalov in the first round in Shanghai, and after that, he eliminated Roberto Carballes Baena. Both triumphs were after straight sets.
We’ve been witnessing his steady rise in form and level of play. Though, he isn’t consistent enough. We saw him beat some pretty good players like Medvedev and Opelka, battle with Tiafoe at the US Open, yet lose to Arthur Fills in Tokyo. Inconsistency, that’s that.
