Match Preview
A thrilling women’s French Open final has been set for Saturday, with top-seeded Iga Swiatek clashing with Karolina Muchova. Swiatek has already secured her place at the top of the world rankings, and she will be looking to achieve a third French Open title, and a fourth Grand Slam crown overall.
The Polish star has looked incredible to this stage of the tournament, as she is yet to drop a set. Her toughest test came in the semi-finals on Thursday, as she came through against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-2, 7-6. Her mentality is unlike anything else on the WTA Tour, as she quickly responded after being broken in the first game of that semi-final to land a dominant win over a talented rival.

Muchova will be the big outsider to win the French Open, and she is one of the lowest-ranked players to have ever reached the final at Roland Garros. The Czech star isn’t completely a bolt from the blue, as she has reached the last eight stage of a Grand Slam tournament previously, but injury issues over the last 18 months have limited her time on court.
Muchova won a thriller against Aryna Sabalenka in her semi-final on Thursday, as she saved a match point in deciding third set before winning 7-6, 6-7, 7-5. It was a huge effort from the Czech star, and her ability to come back from a dire position in the semi-final against the reigning Australian Open champion is a testament to her character. However, she will need to raise her performance once again for this final test.
French Open Predictions
Muchova won the only previous meeting between the players in three sets back in 2019, but Swiatek is a different beast in this modern day. While we have enjoyed Muchova’s run to this stage of the tournament, we struggle to see Swiatek’s dominant run on the clay courts in Paris coming to an end this year.
