Event Preview

All eyes will be on New York, as the curtain comes down on a thrilling year of action on the Grand Slam schedule. The Women’s US Open has been staged annually since 1887, with this year’s event being the 55th of the Open Era. Serena Williams and Chris Evert are the most successful players of the modern era, as they both won six titles.

Iga Swiatek will be the hot favorite in the betting to land Grand Slam glory in New York in September, as she chases a second straight US title, and a fifth Grand Slam victory overall. The Polish star was excellent in the final 12 months ago, as she beat Ons Jabeur in straight sets, but there could be a slight doubt surrounding her chances after she was beaten on the hard courts in Australia earlier this year.

Aryna Sabalenka was the winner of the first Grand Slam of the season, which was her first success at the highest level. The Belarusian is incredibly consistent in Grand Slam competitions, as she has reached the semi-finals at both Wimbledon and the French Open already this year. She has also reached the last four in each of the two previous editions of the US Open.

Ons Jabeur is a huge price in the betting to win the US Open, as the Tunisian looks to bounce back after reaching the final for the second year in a row at Wimbledon. She was the losing finalist at Flushing Meadows last year, and while we believe that she will get her fairytale success, we are convinced that it will come at Wimbledon.

Women’s US Open Prediction

Sabalenka ticks all the boxes for us when it comes to a potential US Open winner this year. However, an outside chance will also be taken on Viktoria Azarenka. The three-time US Open finalist has shown glimpses of being back to her best this year by reaching the semi-final at the Australian Open, and she could be a player worth taking a chance on at a huge price.
